Workshop - RECOVER Veterinary CPR Certification-Basic and Advanced Life Support
Friday 24th January 2020 09.00-16.00

Since many years the BSA Congress has offered CPR courses and taught many veterinary professionels how to perform CPR based on the RECOVER guidelines. This year we want to take it to a next level and organize the first ever CPR certification course, based on RECOVER guidelines, in the Nordic countries. Twenty veterinarians and veterinary technicians are invited to join instructor Ken Yagi for a full day of lectures and hands-on practice. Ken is a veterinary technician specialist with many years of teaching experience and he will teach the concepts and techniques of RECOVER Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced LifeSupport (ALS).

Prior to this dry lab participants must have successfully completed the RECOVER online BLS and ALS courses. The online course can be found at recoverinitiative.org and will be offered at a 30% discount to participants, discount code BSA2020. To be a certified RECOVER BLS/ALS Rescuer you need to take the online course followed by this onsite, hands-on training course. Successful completion of this course grants certification as a RECOVER BLS and ALS Rescuer.

Registration online course for veterinarians.

Registration on line course for veterinary technicians

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION Participants will receive a review of core concepts in RECOVER BLS and have an opportunity to apply these concepts through scenarios using canine mannequins. Practice scenarios include single rescuer BLS and two rescuer BLS, with and without intubation. The session concludes with a practical assessment resulting in certification as a RECOVER Certified BLS Rescuer upon passing.

ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION Participants will review core concepts in RECOVER ALS through scenario-based simulation. The scenarios will provide the opportunity to apply concepts in patient monitoring, use of drugs, defibrillation, and the decision-making process of appropriate interventions during CPR. The session concludes with a team-based practical assessment resulting in certification as a RECOVER Certified ALS Rescuer upon passing.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the end of this workshop the course participants will:

1. Have the tools and competency to do a high quality cardiopulmonaryresuscitation (CPR) of dogs and cats

2. Be a RECOVER Certified BLS/ALS rescuer

A warm welcome to this important workshop!
